One of the hottest subjects at the moment, for companies all around the world, is CSR. Also known as Corporate Social Responsibility, this is corporate and institutional initiatives to protect the environment, people’s rights (child labor etc.), ethical standards and international norms.
CSR is normally implemented in a company’s business strategy, where yearly objectives are set to follow stakeholders increased demands for a more environmental and ethical business approach.
An increased focus on CSR can have different positive effects for a company. First of all, a lot of environmental initiatives will give a decrease in costs of energy consumption. Second of all, it will give the company an opportunity to brand themselves as responsible. The strategy can also help to improve the perception of the company among its staff.
Several products have a less damaging effect on the environment, when produced or used. Here can be mentioned Non Woven Bag Suppliers and LED Light Suppliers, whose products have a focus on the environment. Non Woven Bags are compared to conventional plastic bags, longer lasting, which means a decrease in the amount of bags produced and thrown out, and also a decrease in production of plastic. One of the outcomes of the plastic pollution is a big underwater “island”, in the North Pacific, consisting of small plastic particles, which is approximately ranging from the size of the state of Texas to one larger than the Continental USA. This has in the first place a negative influence on the bird- and wildlife in these areas, but these fish are also eaten by humans, resulting in the ingestion of toxic chemicals.
LED Lights has low energy consumption, and some are strong enough to light up a room. So instead of using normal lighting, you will get a more cost and energy efficient with LED lights.
Even though CSR is an old phenomenon it will probably take several years before people and companies realizes the major problems that the current pollution causes.
All of these points should hopefully underline the importance for CSR, not only the companies but also the consumers.
