A battery is an electrical component containing stored energy, making said energy available to units connected to it. Den correct name for a battery is actually ‘element’ but the term battery is used for single and multiple connected cells alike. In the most common type of batteries the energy is stored elektro-chemically (galvanized cells). Other ways of storing the energy are elektro statically (condensators) and fuelcells. Some batteries must be disposed of when used up while others can be recharged. A battery that can be recharged is referred to as an ’accumulator’. The word batteri comes from being able to connect multiple units or cells in order to produce a greater effect. The scientific and technological term for a batteri is ’transducer’.  Batteris are very useful in our daily life, as well as clothing and LED products. Usabillity

Electrical batteries are being used on a large scale in different units such as cars (accumulators), mobile phones, and torches. In preprogrammed units such as computers, televisions receivers, and cameras special batteries are used. All batteries loose a certain amount of energy, even when they are not being used. This means that all batteries have a limited durablillity. Heat or high temperatures will further shorten that durabillity. Thus, batteries should preferrably be kept out of direct sunlight. Cold or low temperatures on the other side, increases the durabillity. If kept in a freezer batteries can preserve the energy for several years.

 

Disposing of Batteries

Used batteries pose a great threat to the environment if they are not treated correctly after being used up. But, if being treated correctly, actually a lot of the materials in batteries can be re-used. Since it is impossible to imagine a world without batteries paying attention to disposing of batteries in a way that is environmentally sound, must be considered a top priority.
